Custom Team Uniforms — matched sets, produced together
A uniform is not a jersey plus some shorts. It is a set produced together, from the same fabric run, so the navy on the top is the navy on the bottom under floodlights as well as in the box. Teams that order the pieces separately, or from separate suppliers, discover the difference on the first away trip.
That single fact is most of what this page has to say, and it is why we do not sell uniforms as a bundle of individually made garments with a discount attached.
Why a set has to be made as a set
Polyester takes dye slightly differently between production runs. The variation is small enough that nobody notices it in a single garment and obvious enough that everybody notices it when two garments are worn together. Producing the whole set in one run removes the problem rather than managing it.
The same applies to sizing. A team ordering tops in March and bottoms in July gets two size runs that were graded months apart, and a squad that fits neither. When the set is cut together, the size chart it was cut to is the size chart every piece follows.
It is also the cheapest way to order. One setup, one artwork approval and one shipment cost less than three of each, which is why a full set is usually better value per player than the pieces added up — something worth checking against your own numbers before splitting an order across seasons.
What goes into a set
A uniform means different pieces in different sports. These are the combinations we build most often.
Basketball
Jersey and shorts, single-sided or reversible, in mesh or performance knit with matched trim and waistband.
Volleyball
Jersey and spandex or shorts, with a libero contrast top produced from the same run so it reads as part of the set rather than an afterthought.
Soccer
Jersey, shorts and socks — the socks matter, because a mismatched sock is the piece that shows up in every photograph.
Football
Game jersey and pants, with practice pieces produced alongside if they are ordered at the same time.
How a set order runs
Four points where a decision is made, and nothing between them that needs chasing.

Sizes before design
We ask for the roster and sizes first. It changes what we recommend — a squad with a wide size spread is better served by a cut that grades well than by the design somebody liked on a screenshot.

One mockup for the whole set
Top and bottom shown together, in your colours, so the relationship between them is what you approve rather than each piece alone.
- 03
A single production run
Everything cut and dyed together. This is the step that cannot be recovered later, which is why the approval before it is the important one.
- 04
Packed by player
Sets are bagged and labelled per player where a roster is supplied, so nobody hands out the wrong size in a car park.
What a set is specified against
A uniform is the jersey plus everything that has to agree with it. These are the points where agreement is won or lost.
- Colour reference
- One Pantone or one physical sample for the whole set. Two references, or a reference for the top and a description for the bottom, is how a set arrives two shades apart.
- Dye run
- Every piece cut and dyed together. This is the only thing that guarantees a match, and it cannot be recovered later.
- Size grading
- One grade across the set, built for the sizes you actually ordered rather than a single block scaled up and down.
- Cut
- Sport-specific and, where the sport has them, women’s-specific. Asked for rather than assumed.
- Decoration
- One method across the set unless there is a reason. Mixing a sublimated top with a pressed bottom is visible at the waist.
- Packing
- Bagged and labelled per player where a roster is supplied, so the set stays a set after it arrives.
The failure a set is designed to prevent
Polyester takes dye slightly differently between production runs. The variation is small enough that nobody sees it in one garment and obvious enough that everybody sees it when two are worn together — which is the entire reason a uniform is a single order rather than a list of items.
It is not a defect and no manufacturer can eliminate it. Cloth dyed on two occasions is two lots, and any supplier promising an exact match across them is promising something they cannot control. What can be controlled is whether the pieces come from the same occasion.
The same logic governs sizing. A team ordering tops in March and bottoms in July gets two size runs graded months apart and a squad that fits neither, which is a different failure with the same cause: the set was assembled rather than made.
Where the pieces genuinely cannot be ordered together, the honest answer is to expect a close match rather than an identical one, and to put the newer pieces on the players least likely to be photographed beside the older ones — a workaround rather than a solution, and a reason to plan the order around the real production timeline instead.

Can we add a player to a set later in the season?
Yes, and it will come from the same artwork. Be aware that a single-piece reorder is a new dye run: it will be very close, and under stadium lighting it will not be distinguishable, but it is not literally the same lot.
Do you supply home and away in one order?
Frequently, and it is the sensible way to do it. Two colourways produced together share a setup and arrive together, which is one artwork approval instead of two.
Can players choose different cuts within the same set?
Within reason. Mixing men’s and women’s cuts in one squad is routine. Mixing fabrics across a set is where it stops being a set, and we will say so.
What if the sizes we sent turn out to be wrong?
Tell us before the run starts and it costs nothing. We also send a size chart with real measurements rather than S/M/L alone, and teams that measure two or three players against it before submitting almost never need this answer.
How far ahead should we order a full set?
Start the conversation about three months before you need it. Production is three to four weeks; the rest is artwork, sizing and the approval, which almost always take longer than a program expects.
Can we split a set across two budget years?
We quote the whole thing, produce it in one run and invoice in stages if the purchasing calendar needs that. What we avoid is splitting the production, because that is what reintroduces the colour drift a set exists to prevent.

What if a player is between sizes?
The sport decides. Basketball and volleyball go up, because the garment is meant to move; baseball and football go down, because a loose jersey under pads or over a belt is a nuisance rather than a comfort.
Can we reorder just the shorts next season?
You can, and they will match to the same reference. They will not be from the same dye lot, which under floodlights nobody will tell and on a table in daylight somebody eventually will.
Do you number the shorts as well as the jersey?
If you want it, and in basketball it is common. Check your league rule on placement before the mockup is approved rather than after.
